I Need a Trailer!

I’d like to welcome you back to my Art’s blog, hope you’ve enjoyed the read so far. So we’ve touched on art around the home and talked about what art fairs to look out for in 2016. Later in my blog I’d like to touch on those subjects again but this post is going to be taking things in a slightly different direction as I’m currently in the market for a trailer and wanted a bit of advice.

As you know I’m a big fan of art and a big fan of collectibles be it antiques, old paintings, ornaments etc. Around the home I like to be inventive and am always coming up with creative ideas. In order to make cool stuff around the home, I spend a lot of time shopping around for old antiques that people don’t necessarily see any value in and I then turn them into something cool and different. This may be at trunk sales, antique fairs, second-hand charity shops or online. Basically anywhere that I can find a bargain. This means I can then re-purpose what I buy and make it into something that somebody no longer wants to something that looks good. I’ve took the hobby a little further recently and have started making things not just for my home, but to sell to other people for their home. I can’t just sell my goods from home so need to attend art fairs where I can display my work and hopefully make a bit of money, promoting myself and what I’m about, along the way.

So why do I Need a Trailer?

It’s in it very early stages but I’m very close now to having a varies collection of things that I could take to a fair and display. I’m confident that people will find my ideas quirky and interesting so hopefully that will lead to me making some sales and will help me grow a business. Right, so to get to the point, I need to think of how I’m going to transport all the goods from my home to the art fairs without having to cram my boot full of things. I have therefore been considering buying a trailer that I can tow with the car every-time I have a fair to attend. This would also make sense as instead of having to pack and unpack the car every time, I can simply leave everything in the trailer. Fortunately, I have a garage so can keep the trailer and all my goods safe inside.

Hitting a brick wall

I’ve been looking at the second-hand sites where I sometimes buy some of my old antique bargains. I’ve searched http://www.used.forsale/trailer old used trailers for sale but haven’t really come across anything that seems right. I figured it was best to look second-hand to begin with as that’s usually my approach and anything I can do to save money, then I will. I’m happy to just get a basic square or rectangular trailer where I can pull some tarp over the top and tie a few pieces of rope around it to hold everything in but then I have seen some that have covers built into them so am wondering whether that would keep my goods in better condition. I’ll have to use various containers and wrap a lot of the items up well as some are quite delicate and I don’t want them ruining before I get to the show. This is the one thing that’s bothering and that’s why ‘ve been considering spending that bit more on something that’s more designed towards my requirements.

Please Help!

I’ve been trying to look around the internet for some advice and ideas but just don’t know what I’m looking for really. I’ve seen some websites where they can make customer trailers for you but then the price gets bumped-up considerably. I’ve been following the trailer life website http://www.trailerlife.com/ for some advice but that hasn’t really helped that much. There’s some really cool trailers in there to look at and read about but sadly they don’t belong to me and never will. Please! If anybody can give me some advice, then I’d be so grateful. I don’t have a very big budget and am even looking for a freebie if at all possible. I know that’s unlikely and I’m obviously happy to pay but I think I’ve written-off buying anything brand new after having another look at my bank balance. All my funds are going into my projects at the moment so I think I’ll just have to settle with a basic small trailer that’s second-hand. I’ll keep looking and maybe one will take my fancy but won’t hurt my bank balance too much. In the meantime, hopefully somebody can come up with a good suggestion on where and what to buy.
